Choosing the right dog daycare or boarding option can make a huge difference in your dog’s comfort, happiness, and overall experience. At Wags & Wiggles, we offer two thoughtfully designed programs: Group Play and Private Care.
When it comes to Group Play vs. Private Care, the best choice depends on your dog’s personality, age, energy level, and social preferences. Whether your pup thrives in a social setting or needs a quieter, more personalized routine, here’s how to decide which option is the right fit.
Group Play Daycare & Boarding
What it is:
Group Play is our most social daycare option. Dogs are grouped by size and temperament and spend their day playing, exploring, and interacting with one another, always under the watchful eye of our trained staff. Group dogs who board with us enjoy a full day of daycare followed by a cozy overnight routine.
Great for dogs who:
- Enjoy the company of other dogs
- Are confident and playful
- Thrive in active, structured environments
- Benefit from regular exercise and stimulation
Key benefits:
-
Socialization: Helps build healthy canine communication skills
-
Exercise & play: Keeps high-energy dogs happy and tired
-
Enrichment: Includes fun activities like Quick Train and Yappy Hour
-
Routine: Dogs settle into a reliable rhythm that supports behavior and well-being
Private Care Daycare & Boarding
A quiet, personalized program for dogs who aren't suited for group settings.
Private Care is ideal for dogs who need a calmer environment with individualized attention. This includes dogs who don’t get along with other dogs but are great with people, as well as shy or fearful dogs, and senior dogs.
Dogs in Private Care receive an outside walk every two hours, two one-on-one play or enrichment sessions per day, and a peaceful routine specifically designed to meet their needs. To be eligible for Private Care, dogs must be able to rest calmly and quietly in a kennel or suite. Private Care is an additional $25 per day on top of the regular daycare fee and has limited availability.
Ideal for dogs who:
-
Show aggression or reactivity toward other dogs, but are friendly with people
-
Struggle with overstimulation or fear in busy settings
-
Are older and need a slower pace with more rest
-
Didn’t pass the initial daycare meet-and-greet
-
Can stay relaxed and quiet in a kennel or suite
Benefits of Private Dog Care:
-
Low-stress environment: No exposure to other dogs means less anxiety
-
Individualized attention: Staff follow a routine tailored to each dog’s needs
-
Safe for dogs with dog aggression or fear issues: Provides structure and predictability
-
Supports training goals: Perfect for dogs in our Board & Train program who can't be with other dogs
-
Gentle care for seniors: Comfort and calm for dogs who need extra support
Private Care offers a safe, structured alternative to group daycare for dogs who need something different—and just as special.
How to Choose the Best Daycare Option for Your Dog
Every dog is different, and their care should reflect that. Here’s a quick guide to help you decide which program is the best fit:
Choose Group Play if your dog:
-
Loves playing and interacting with other dogs
-
Has high to moderate energy
-
Thrives in busy, social environments
-
Passed a daycare meet-and-greet with other dogs
Choose Private Care if your dog:
-
Doesn’t get along with other dogs but enjoys people
-
Is older, recovering, or needs a slower pace and gentle care
-
Has behavioral or medical needs that require individual attention
-
Can stay calm and quiet in a kennel or suite
Both options are tailored to support your dog’s comfort, safety, and happiness, just in different ways. Still not sure? We’re happy to help guide you!
