Anesthetic-Free Dental & Vaccine Clinic
Wags & Wiggles offers dog dental care through Qualified Pet Dental at both Tustin and Rancho Santa Margarita locations. We took this venture very seriously. Their dog handling abilities and knowledge are top notch. Did you know that teeth cleaning involving removal of plaque and tartar are REQUIRED by the state law to be supervised by a licensed veterinarian?
WHY SHOULD I HAVE MY DOGS TEETH CLEANED?
Imagine how your teeth would look and feel if you didn't brush them daily. Periodontal (gum) disease is one of the most common conditions seen in pets today. The problem begins when plaque and tartar are allowed to build up on your pet's teeth. Plaque harbors the bacteria, which can infect gum tissue and the roots of teeth resulting in disease and tooth loss. Besides the negative impact on the oral health, bacteria can enter the bloodstream through the large blood vessels located near the gums and teeth. At this stage, the organs with the highest blood flow are most susceptible to infections: lungs, heart, kidneys, liver and even the brain. Damage to these organs caused by infection can shorten the lives of our pets.
What's Involved in Wags & Wiggles Dog Dental Care?
Many dog facilities offer this service but only Qualified Pet Dental brings along a veterinarian to examine and oversee all procedures. Qualified Pet Dental technicians are highly qualified to perform a thorough dental exam on your pet without the use of anesthesia. During the examination, they chart any abnormalities or concerns regarding your pet's oral health. The next step is removing all of the plaque above and below the gum line. They finish up with a polish of the teeth using a fluoride-based pumice.
DOES MY DOG HAVE TO ATTEND YOUR FACILITY?
We strongly recommend your dog attends daycare on the day of the dog dental care procedure. This way they get to have some fun too and they will be more relaxed. However, it is only required that your dog is present at the time of the procedure. If your dog is boarding, no problem. The procedure can still be done.
